A new national website offers safety and recruitment information as the Coast Guard reports 2,500 incidents and assistance to 4,218 people this year.

The Irish Coast Guard has launched a dedicated national website with information about coastal and water safety, recruitment and the service's work.

The launch was announced on 13 October alongside an update on modernisation. According to reporting by Afloat, the service had responded to 2,500 incidents and assisted 4,218 people so far in 2026. Summer incidents increased by 11% compared with the same period in 2025.

Planned improvements include new rescue boats, stronger digital systems, expanded drone capability and support for volunteers. The first replacement rescue boat is expected in 2027, with deliveries continuing in phases to 2031.

Readers can explore the new resource at coastguard.gov.ie (opens in a new tab).
